Spark - Shift Calendar App Reviews

Like the other reviewers, I already bought and paid for the app. After the update, without warning, I am now forced into a yearly subscription if I want to continue using it. There was no mention of this in the update notes. That is dirty business. I felt like the app was barely worth it in the first place; its certainly not worth paying endlessly for it. Ill be deleting it and I recommend you avoid it entirely.

Not only have I used this app for years after paying the initial fee of about $6.00 then I did the update. Yes without warning the app was changed and they expected you to pay an annual fee of $.99. Then if you let your trial expire the dirty crooks want you to pay $5.99 AGAIN then $.99 every year after that!!! They should be ashamed of themselves!!! I cant believe that after all the POOR reviews that have been written about the same issue that they would take their greedy hands out of the money coffer and wake the heck up!!!! Dont know whos idea it was to change this app from great to horrible but they should be fired, stoned and thrown in the bushes!!!!!!!

It initially was a hefty price for calendar with limited functionality and antiquated interface, but it served a purpose so I purchased it. After updating it like I always do, it created a subscription based calendar (read the fine print). Im ok paying for a subscription for a service that updates content on a regular basis, but this is a calendar and not a news service. It smacks of nothing more than greed. The problem was bugs in the update cause major issues for the users. I stopped using it and waited for the dust to settle. I guess I waited too long. Now he wants me to re purchase the app at same price I paid initially. No thanks, it really isnt worth it. Its just not a good app.

I purchased this app a few years ago, paid the initial fee. Did a routine update now they want to charge 5.99 and .99 a year after that. Customer service skills are horrible. Plenty of better FREE apps out there!

So irritating...Bought this app over 4 years ago for $6.99.. I was satisfied and it kept up with my schedule well. I suggested this to many of my co-workers at the Sheriffs Office and many of them bought it also. Now youve changed the app and a customer thats used your product and bought it originally- youre going to recharge me $5.99 and then charge me a yearly subscription. Sounds like robbery to me.. I should have shopped else well originally. Very unhappy with the changes. If you need to charge $1 a year subscription I understand. But if I already bought it the first time for $6.99- how are you honestly going to tell me I need to buy it again for $5.99 before I can buy a subscription for a $1 a year. Dirty... Change the way youre doing business and make the old customers happy and grandfather us in or wave the initial purchase price again. Wouldnt not recommend the app to anyone just for the fact of the way theyve treated its original start up customers. Customer service is big and if you cant back your family that was with you from the start I have no use for you.

I, like many other users purchased this app several years ago at full price. Now Im supposed to pay an annual subscription AND repurchase the app at full price again in order to continue using it!?! Forget about it. I could stomach an annual fee even though I think it should be waived for past users, but this is just greedy. Until this is changed I will not be continuing to use this app nor would I recommend it.

Very easy and smooth UI, has the features needed to record everything in a schedule. Easy to sync outside calendars. If you dont like paying for this app then go make your own.

This is essentially a color-coded calendar that provides a quick reference to days you work. It used to allow you to keep track of OT & other events which was nice. Wasnt much different than other calendars other than the color-coding. Was worth the $10 bucks or whatever I paid for it to me. But now they want more money. Very disappointed, save your money & use the cake set that came with your phone.

I paid for an app, not a subscription. This company is greedy and is now charging previous purchasers to pay a yearly fee. This app is worthless to me now and want my money back. Dont waste your money, use google calendar.

I feel ripped off. I purchased the app then I was asked to down load the upgrade and holy crap now Im paying a fee and I cant go back to the earlier version!!! It has to be illegal for these crooked thieves to mislead and not tell you egg hat your really getting or not getting!!!!

You pay for the app. Everything is going smooth. You even feel good about the purchase. Then, suddenly, you feel a burn in your back, that quickly turns to pain. You feel something wet running down your back. As you look down, you notice its blood. You quickly realize you have been stabbed with a knife. oh god, what happened?? Thats right folks, these thieves made you think all you needed to do was pay for the initial app. But there is more... Now, on top of the $6 purchase, there is a $6 subscription fee, but wait!!! No, there cant be more. But good sir, there is! You also have to pay a YEARLY subscription fee of $.099. Man, my back is killing me, anyone else?

Like others have said, they keep gouging for money way too often. Its the way of apps these days. Instead of paying for the app, you have to subscribe so they can continue a revenue stream. I get that but this one is simply too much. There is too much competition to charge this much or this often.

Have had this app for 6 years and it was great until they made you pay a subscription fee. Save your money.

This is the best shift app available. It used to be a one time fee and now its .99 a year with changes to the app. The negative reviews are because during the initial change/upgrade a lot of peoples information was lost and the app wasnt as easy to use as the original version. However, the developer has made almost every change that was asked of them. Its close to the original version but upgraded. Change isnt always easy but thats how you keep up with the times. .99 a year to keep this program running and making the changes that people request, to me it is not a big issue since the issues have been getting resolved. Cant always take, its also ok to give. .99 a year is reasonable for this app., if it were per month than there would be issues but its not and if you need to add a feature or have an idea share with developer and your idea may be used. Ive used a lot of apps before this one and I aint going anywhere. Most members in my department use this app. Great App!!

I paid seven dollars for the app originally. It wasnt perfect but it served a purpose.and they have me download A new version and its worse than before and now I have to pay a subscription fee. Dont waste your money!!!

Should be ZERO stars!! This is truly a ripoff. A subscription needed because of costs of keeping up the app? That is one of the excuses given by support. Other apps upgrade as needed and no subscription is needed. The new format is awful and hard to navigate if you have more than one calendar. The IAFF recommends not using this app because of the deceptive practices of the app. Everyone at my station has gotten rid of it and gone to other, and better, apps.

Love how it links to my phones built in calendar, and I am able to share my calendar with my family through their devices.

The app was great till the update... now its a yearly subscription....I would say it would be worth it if you could log into your calendar / account and stow your info but you are royal screwed if you change devices. YOU LOSE ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!!! To say I am extremely disappointed would be an understatement. Keep with google calendar, at least you know they are free, reliable, and you wont lose anything. They dont care about anything but money.
